judgement day...

Have you ever been to a funeral? Have you ever been to a funeral of someone in uniform? Have you seen the pain of so many? Have you seen a city mourn the loss of one of their servants? Why as a people do we sit by and watch criminals loot, pilage, and generally cause terror? We allow judges to be simply interpreters of the law and not JUDGES. Isn't that what they are supposed to do. Look at a case based on its merit and not just interpret but also PASS JUDGEMENT. Seems like these days the law protects more of the criminal element than it does the good law abiding citizens. Shouldn't a case be tried on its merit and not how evidence was gathered? Does it matter to YOU how the evidence is collected if it is your mother, father, son, or daughter who is killed?

Too long....

Been too long since I last posted. Iw as inspired to post again due to a "USA Today" article that I read on my iphone. It was about the "Tea Party" movement that seems "sweeping the nation". It does seem as if this movement is quickly becoming the way to go. Sure it has some political ties but it does seem as if it is really neither Republican or Democrat. It seems that it is either depending on the issue. The article that I read did seem to criticize the Tea Party's lack of racial concerns citing that most of the party was made up of Anglo Saxon (white) males but almost in the same breath recognized that almost 25% of the party was made up of various "ethnic" populations.....correct me if I'm wrong but it seems like 75% of the US is ACTUALLY "white" with 25% being from other ethnic backgrounds. A quick search on Wikipedia confirmed this. It doesn't however include the Millions of illegal immigrants that are residing in this county. (another issue all together) So it seems as if the ethnic "melting pot" is represented in this parties membership so why the criticisim? Why the outlandish accusations if all they're doing is speaking out...as I remember that was one of the benefits of being an American citizen. And for all of you that were just waiting for one of "those" comments here goes....being an AMERICAN is under fire lately.

What being an American means now:

-We pay for illegals to live and enjoy our freedoms and all the tax based programs for free without paying into them.

-We pay for medical care to everyone...(not a problem unless that someone NEVER pays back into the system, i.e. illegals who ship all of their money back to their home country.)

-And here's my favorite we are now going to totally discount all that hard work that the LEGAL immigrants of this country have put in. Instead we have a president is supporting the mass migration of 12 million illegals. What kind of message does that give to the VERY hard working legal immigrants that worked hard for a long time WITH the system and laws that are currently in place? All their hard work was for nothing...that's the message. What about the message that it sends the next 12 million that are waiting to get into the country....does this send the message that are borders are secure or does it send the message that are borders are only secure until we get tired of trying.

There are hard working legal citizens out there that are tired of being pushed around by a government that claims to be doing it "in our best interest". This is where I see where the Tea Party name is actually pertinent....let's not forget that there was, once upon a time, a government far far away that was making laws that didn't have anything to do with the people of this great nation. Now instead of physical distance we have a financial distance, and status distance. We are dealing with a government that is so far removed from the "voice of the people" that they seem to be making whimsical decisions for THEIR own benefit.

So what do we do now? You tell me? Is anyone listening? Besides my wife!?

Musketeer

I realized after watching another movie that I had fulfilled a life long dream without even knowing it. I had become a modern day musketeer without even realizing. I'm not trying to "toot" my own horn or anything but rather through my realization maybe help others realize that they too have fulfilled their own dreams without realizing.

After watching another stupid movie I realized that the things that I once idolized in movies of the past I am now a part of. I have sought jobs throughout my life that have helped me find honor, passion, love, protection of the weak or desperate. Some would classify this as a hero complex and I think your right. But seriously how bad is that really? Is it bad to want to help someone out on their worst day. Someone calls when they are having a bad day and we come to solve their problems.

These seem to be the same things that we idolize in the movies about the stories of old. Knights of the round table, the Three Musketeers, and other movies like this have inspired us to be better people throughout our lives but I move that there are a lot of you that have achieved your once idolized positions if you should think about it a little. So tell me about it, how did you achieve your dream?

I know this isn't a typical blog for me but I thought it'd be fun! And isnt' this supposed to be about what's on my mind? So let me know what you think!

Tragedy....

So this morning I heard a song by Eddie Money on one of the morning shows. It was about a soldier who was returning from the war in a box. I thought it was ironic because there I was listening to this song about a man/woman who was willing to die for his country while reading about more Obama-care tax related information. I thought it was ironic to read about a president who seems to be turning our medical system into a more communistic "everyones equal" type of system. Like I have said previously as one of the most wealthy countries in the world we DO have a bit of a responsibility to help those that are less fortunate but not at the expense of OUR OWN county.

I recently talked to one of my cousins in Washington state who told me about a bill that was recently passed to help the children of illegal aliens pay for school related expenses. Meanwhile the finiancial responsibility of my cousins children remains solely with her and her husband. Does this really make sense to anyone? I mean as I've said before I'm just a blue collar guy with a limited amount of education so let me break this down to how it sounds to me. We (the tax paying LEGAL citizens of this great country) are now being shouldered with the financial burden of someone elses children who LEGALLY speaking should be deported? A citizen who isn't paying the necessary taxes that keep the programs that are so great funded. I know that somewhere in one of these cathartic rantings I have mentioned that in California alone over 70% of all the people that are housed in our prision system are illegal aliens. To the tune of 80k a prisoner the dollar figure ads up quickly! So why aren't we doing something more with this? We continue to worry that everyone needs healthcare when if we took a closer look how many United States CITIZENS would actually be without healthcare insurance? Then out of those people how many would be covered under existing programs that are overtaxed (no pun intended!) by use from so many illegals? I move that the programs that are currently in existence would be completely adequate if they were used only by US citizens and not the hundreds of thousands of illegals.

You know I started this rant by mentioning how sad it was to read something so completely opposite of what would seem to be the simple ideologies of this great nation. All this while seeing someone sang of the return of a dead soldier. What made my head spin is what would our forefathers think? They knew they weren't all knowing so they wrote things that we could follow but were not bound to. They knew things would change so they made it changable. What would they think of a government who is basically doing their bidding while the population stood apart and questioned WHY!? I feel like they would be disapointed in a system that seems to be failing at the moment. It's frustrating when our great nations people seem to have better ideas that our own government meanwhile they push issues through blindly.

So here I am saying what's next? What are we going to have to watch pass next as we sit here and say nothing? Sometimes I wish that I didn't love my job so I could run in the next election for something in the state at least. So thusly I illustrate the great debate and struggle. One citizen willing to get involved but perhaps NOT willing to make the sacrifice necessary.

A quick shout out to DCHawk and my partner!

Movie thoughts....

Movies are great aren't they! They are entertaining, fun to watch, and sometimes if you aren't careful they make you think of a different world. Sometimes there are little details that that make you think of how they effect the world at large.

FOR INSTANCE:

Today I'm watching a movie and it has some parts that are dealing with the history of a nation full of hard working people that always seemed to be on the edge of development. We were a nation that prided itself on hard work and development. The particular development in question here was the railroad. Once upon a time we developed a railway that connected two sides of the continent. It was the envy of the world. Fast fwd to today...instead of building a railroad or updating our infrastructure we are left with an office of quibbiling men who would rather debate the proposition of helping people than ACTUALLY helping people. We are now years behind other nations. There is already and has been for a while now a bullet train operating in Japan for a while. Yet we (our government) has been talking about building one for the past 20yrs. There are plans to "start planning" to build a like train on the west coast. So now we are having meetings to have a meeting about the planning stages. Instead of development and giving people jobs we are pushing through legislation that the "people" (that's us) are split on or against.

We are sitting on our laurels and allowing the world to pass us by while touting an old reputation. This reputation was earned by hard work and yet we have done nothing in recent history to CONTINUE earning the reputation. Let's lead by example. Like the military says, lead from the front not the back. Let's give people jobs instead of GIVING money away to large corporations. Let's stimulate the economy the only way it CAN be stimulated from the bottom up not the top down. Now I know I'm not an economist with a big degree from some well respected college, but it seems to me that a lot of the "recession" (let's just call it the great deppression II) has to do with "consumer spending". Now correct me if I'm wrong but it is the lower half that makes up the great majority of consumer spending. It would seem to this uneducated soul that it makes more sense to bolster the consumer rather than the large corporations whose undicsiplined spending without fear of reprisal got them into this mess in the first place. But then again what do I know. Although it would seem like we've been here before and one of the ways that we got out of it the first time was by a comprehensive job plan that gave Americans jobs. We built parks, roads, cleaned up the country by just giving people a way to make a living. Now to the uneducated (me) it seems like this MAY help us in our current situation.

I sit here day in and day out in wonder about what we have accomplished in our country's great history. But I'm also ashamed that we have let the government get in the way of allowing us to be the great nation that we all know we are. We let criminals off on technicalities, we give illegals more rights and privledges than our own citizens. When are we going to make it stop? When does it end? We aren't looking for handouts merely hand ups. We are also asking that our tax dollars are spent on our own citizens not everyone ELSE. Is that too much to ask for? A system to be accountable? A government to be accountable for its actions? People that spend money to be accountable for the manner in which they spend it? That's what the health insurance issues come down to. There is no American worth their salt that wants to deny benefits to the less fortunate TAX PAYING CITIZENS. But to those who make a choice not to buy health insurance vs. the new boat we do have problem with that. BE ACCOUNTABLE, that's what we are asking because we as the middle class are CONSTANTLY held accountable for the actions of the higher and lower. We sit idely by as people abuse a welfare system. We do nothing as a bill passes that will make us pay more and cause us insurance issues for the next 10yrs.

So where do we go next? Anyone else have some thoughts?

A few commuting thoughts....

So there I am last night ready to go to bed and I thought I'd check my email and facebook on my trusty Iphone. Liz writes me that she to continue to write things....A friend of mine (Nick) suggested blogging. I think that Blaire thinks it will become cathartic for me and kind of allow me to "vent" to the world. Thusly here I am....well that and I feel like I have something to say and no where (right now) to say it. So what better way to get things out than to blog them to absolutely no one in particular and see what happens....

SO let's get down to the bare bones of today

There I am on my way home from a three day stint at work listening to the radio (a little old schoolish rap) and Eminem comes on and it starts me thinking about the things that have occured over the past few days. I found out that because a president that preaches of change pushed his bill fwd that is going to cost me in execess of 40% on my health insurance per MONTH because I have a unionized health plan. Ouch. So let me get this straight because I don't want anyone twisting what I'm saying here. I'm getting charged more because there are people out there who can't afford insurance....I'm good with that. NO REALLY I AM. In fact I'm excited about that! I'm excited to help those less fortunate that I am. I'm PUMPED about that. Let's review what I'm not excited about.

-Not excited about paying for insurance for someone who owns a boat, a motorcycle, three cars and vacations three times a year but figures state funded health insurance is fine because they've done the research and found that they can manipulate their income to a point where it seems like they make much less than they actually do. This puts them in that golden catagory of "qualifies" and allows them to use MY tax dollars for their insurance....meanwhile I'm still paying good hard earned money so that I can run a 911 call for said patient with hang nail.

-Not excited to pay for health care for non tax paying citezens who continue to use the vast majority of the medicare coverage out there for themselves and their families and then DON'T pay any taxes to pay back into the system. Do you realize that 70% of all the people in CA state prisions are illegal aliens. What do you think the statistics are for illegal aliens utilizing government funded medical care? I mean I didn't finish college or anything but......

-Not excited to(and this is the absolute icing on the cake) watch a democratic system continually be manipulated until it resembles more of a dictatorship than a democratic system. So let me ask you this....if the country's people (that's us) are still split on the healthcare issue....how did it pass? Could it be that the very people that we have voted for continue to do their own will vs. the will of the people. Interesting.....no I really don't think it's interesting I think it's a tradgedy.

Well that's really what I've got for today so what do you guys think?
